
Moving and Handling
1 day course - aimed at workers in the care and education sector - available as in-house training at a venue of your choice throughout the UK
This course is designed for professionals who work in either the care or education sector and need to have specific knowledge of how to physically support those who need it in a professional and supportive manner.
We will explain how health and safety legislation in general and moving & handling regulations in specific relate to work practices. We will also focus on recognising positive moving & handling techniques within the work setting, while also being able to recognise and eliminate poor practice.
We will support attendees to develop their skills with the equipment they use to support those in their care and we will look at how to use that equipment safely, looking at the potential consequences of incorrect use of said equipment.
Session Outcomes
- Understand requirements for health and safety in children and young people services in relation to moving and handling
- Understand basic physical ergonomics and the implications of poor moving & handling on the body
- Understand how to correctly support children and young people with positive moving & handling
- Understand how to correctly use equipment such as hoists, standing chairs etc.
